I own a franchise in Virginia specializing in quick serve pizza. The franchisor claims that we printed unauthorized coupons to promote a pizza special. They are trying to stick us with legal fees (from lawyers that were hired) used to stop our “unauthorized promotion”.
I need any advice, referrals to lawyers, etc… that might help us get out of this situation and not pay the fees.
My franchise is located in VA, but the franchisor is headquartered in Maryland.

Well pay them and don't print anymore without WRITTEN APPROVAL!!!!!!!

OR FILE BANKRUPTIZE AND OPEN UNDER A NEW NAME AND START OVER WITHOUT THE FRANCHISE!Legal Question: Fighting the Franchisor in Virginia / Maryland?
What is your defense to the claim that you printed unauthorized coupons? The only three defenses I can think of are "we didn't print them", "they weren't unauthorized" or "the franchise agreement doesn't require us to get your authorization to print coupons".
If you did print them, and they were not authorized, and the agreement prohibits you from printing them, then I think you just need to settle with the franchisor. Tell them you aren't willing to pay what they are asking, and make them an offer you think is more reasonable.
