I'm especially interested to hear from someone who has actually worked at a pizza place and knows for sure.
(We got some pretty crappy pizzas last night from a place that is usually great and we used a coupon.)Do pizza places skimp on toppings and give you a lower quality pizza when you use a coupon?
Depends on where you go.
If you're going to a place like Round Table or Dominos, then nah. The printout the people use to make the pizza doesn't show payment stuff on it.
If you're going to Joe's Pizza Shack, or some local place...it's quite possible. I worked for one owner who was very greedy and stingy, and if he didn't like you or something about your order, you got a toppings-light pizza.
I haven't had that experience...Do pizza places skimp on toppings and give you a lower quality pizza when you use a coupon?
dont give then or tell them about the coupons til its time to pay
i think you just got a bad pizza. i worked at a national chain and we never, ever did this. they dont really have a system that allows them to see if you used a coupon
on the other hand, they may be doing this to all pizzas to help them save food cost.
did you tip your driver, too? i've never seen anything happen like that but I've heard stories!Do pizza places skimp on toppings and give you a lower quality pizza when you use a coupon?
Many many years ago I worked at a pizza place.
The answer is no, but I might be able to explain why you got a crummy pizza.
Most people that make pizzas want them to be loaded, and look like a pizza should. It's management that wants you to skimp, so as a result you usually end up with a "decent" pizza. Not too awesome but not horrible.
If there was a district manager there or the manager was standing over the employee they might have made your pizza "by the book". A "by the book" pizza usually has X number of pepperoni, X number of oz of cheese, etc. The meat and the cheese is what they really watch closely, everything else on a pizza is dirt cheap.
not if you dont tell them about the coupon when you order..
You're right in one essence, when you call, do not tell them you have a coupon. If they insist, which they will not, when you pick up the pizza then tell them there that you found the coupon and can we use it. If the owner is in the pizza place. they might skimp on the ingredients.
The other reason the pizza was lousy is maybe they got a new cook or just young kids to do the pizzas (less on payroll)
I had that experience, only we didn't use a coupon......I called in, and they told me the wait was 45 mins.....ok, no problem......only an hour and a half later no pizza......I called, they forgot to send it out and it was still sitting there on the counter...!!!!!!!
They gave me coupons, and they seemed like the same service, but we are in a low rent area, so I'm sure they forget a lot of pizzas....otherwise they were discriminating against me.......
No they don't use cheaper ingredients. they don't have enough room to store extra stuff. Also the cooks normally don't know if there is a coupon involved in the sale. If you are worried then don't tell them about the coupon until you get your food and you go to pay. that way you can see the difference being taken off the bill.
I once lived a room-mate who was a manger at a "national chain". He was a real pin-head. He would skimp, and then take the "extras" home with him.
So, if he was supposed to use 3 scoops of ingrediant "a", then he would only use "2" scoops, and then put the rest aside to take home.
That is why I won't eat at that pizza chain anymore.
No way.... I work at a Pizza store in my town, and we have a certain way that we have to make certain pizzas... For example, for a supreme pizza we have to use an exact amount of each meat and vegetable and an exact amount of cheese and then have to put the extra cheese on the top...when the pizza comes out of the oven if my manager doesnt like the way that it looks then he will set the pizza aside make another one himself, and when we are not busy he will point out what is wrong with it. Coupon or no coupon we have to make every pizza as if we were eating it ourselves... the exact same amount of sauce cheese and toppings on each pizza unless the customer wants extra or less of something....chances are that a new employee made your pizza or they were just really off of their game...
No. The people who make the pizzas will most likely have no idea who uses coupons and who doesn't - just the people who take your order and deliver it. And the toppings are *supposed* to be weighed out for quality control, but a lot of places don't regulate on that unless they start losing money because people will usually give you a little more. So it sounds like they started to notice their loss and the supervisors were making sure the pizza makers were weighing out toppings. If you really like something specific, shell out the extra dollar for extra of that topping.
(I worked at two Round Tables, for a year each.)
I would call and complain if you feel cheated. I think most pizza places are just making the pizzas - the actually pizza artist probably doesn't know which pizza buyer has used a coupon. That is a funny thought though.
They skimp all the time, whether you use a coupon or not. Pizza Hut is the worst, severely skimping' on the cheese.
